CM Punk Responds After Roman Reigns Claimed He ‘Allowed’ His WWE Return

CM Punk is known for speaking his mind, and his recent comments about Roman Reigns are no different. As they get ready to face each other at WrestleMania 42, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion reacted to Reigns’ claim that he had a say in his WWE return.

CM Punk made his big comeback at Survivor Series 2023 after being away for almost a decade. During that time, he had several issues with WWE and was very vocal about it. When he returned, Reigns was already the top star in the company.

As Punk vs. Reigns started to build up for WrestleMania 42, the OTC said in a promo that WWE management, especially Triple H, spoke to him before bringing Punk back. He claimed he had some influence in the decision and could have stopped it if he wanted.

However, CM Punk isn’t buying that.

In an interview with Corey Graves, Punk said he is not sure how true Reigns’ claim is. He also joked about Reigns acting like he is part of management.

“I don’t know how true that is. I mean either way, honestly it kind of tickles me because it means he either thinks or is some form of office, which is laughable, but it also gives me something to kind of rage against,” Punk said.

The World Heavyweight Champion then said his relationship with WWE management has never been smooth, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Reigns had some influence. But he added that if Roman Reigns really had that power, he should’ve said no, because it would have made things easier for him now.

“Me and management have never really seen eye-to-eye on things. It would make sense that he like, ‘Oh, he has a say,’ but also, if you had that say, brother, you should’ve said no. It would’ve made your life a whole lot easier,” Punk added.

Ever since Punk’s return, there has been some tension between the two WWE stars. They even teamed up at Survivor Series 2024 and suffered for it as Paul Heyman betrayed them both eventually.

And now, with WrestleMania 42 coming up, their match for the World Heavyweight Championship isn’t just about the title; it’s about who really runs the show.
