AEW and former streaming partner TrillerTV have gotten into a legal dispute. AEW filed a lawsuit claiming the company owes about $5 million in unpaid revenue connected to PPV sales and the now-closed AEW Plus service.
The lawsuit reportedly describes serious financial problems behind the scenes at Triller. Court documents claim the company used money earned from AEW content to fund other business projects instead of paying the wrestling promotion under their agreement.
AEW reportedly filed a lawsuit against TrillerTV over alleged unpaid revenue
According to a report from POST Wrestling, AEW officially filed the lawsuit on April 29 in Duval County Court in Florida against TrillerTV and its parent company, Triller Group Inc.
Tony Khan’s company claims Triller failed to properly pay money earned through programming. This transpired despite the platform continuing to collect revenue from fans buying PPVs and subscriptions.
“[Triller Group Inc.’s] strategy of robbing revenues generated by TrillerTV’s distribution of AEW content to cover other of Defendants’ operating expenses (much of which was spent on the social media platform endeavor) negatively impacted its relationship with and payments owed to AEW,” AEW stated.
The lawsuit also claims AEW sent official payment requests in January and March 2025 before finally taking legal action.
According to the filing, AEW says it is owed exactly $4,988,989.13. The amount reportedly continues to grow because interest is accrued at 2% per month under the agreement.
The documents reportedly state that Triller only made a partial payment on March 1, 2025, despite collecting revenue from viewers. The report also shared details about the original deal between AEW and TrillerTV, which wrestling fans previously knew as FITE.
Under the 2019 agreement, the wrestling company reportedly received 75% of net domestic PPV revenue and 65% of international PPV revenue. Revenue from AEW Plus subscriptions was reportedly split 60/40 in AEW’s favor.
For many years, TrillerTV emerged as one of the main streaming platforms for international AEW fans who could not watch the shows through regular TV. AEW Plus became especially popular overseas because it gave fans live weekly shows and PPVs through one subscription service.
But the partnership recently fell apart when TrillerTV announced AEW Plus would shut down completely. At the same time, TrillerTV itself reportedly appears to be dealing with major financial issues internally.
POST Wrestling also reported that Flipps Media Inc., the company behind TrillerTV, recently filed another lawsuit against Triller Group Inc. in Delaware Chancery Court.
That lawsuit reportedly claims the parent company is insolvent and does not currently have a working board of directors. This makes it difficult to even move forward with bankruptcy protection properly. The filing also claims the parent company has abandoned TrillerTV. CEO Kostadin Jordanov and President/COO Eric Winter run the show.
Meanwhile, Triller Group CEO Wing-Fai Ng released a short statement about the situation. “We take these reports seriously and are reviewing the legal matter thoroughly. At this time, Triller Group Inc. has no comment.”
