AEW Stars Want The New Day Signed After WWE Exit — REPORT

The wrestling world is still processing the departure of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (Members of The New Day) from WWE. Nevertheless, momentum behind a possible AEW move is already growing rapidly.

According to a new report, support for bringing the former New Day members into All Elite Wrestling is building internally among several major names in the company.

Fightful Select reported that every AEW source they spoke with supported signing Kingston and Woods, who is also expected to use the Austin Creed name outside WWE. The report added that multiple prominent AEW talents have actively pushed for the duo to join the company following their recent exit from WWE.

The pair reportedly became free agents after rejecting restructured contracts tied to WWE’s ongoing TKO-era financial adjustments.

Reports indicated the proposed deals involved major pay reductions despite both men previously signing contracts running through 2030. Rather than accept smaller roles and reduced pay, Kingston and Woods were granted mutual releases on May 2.

Several AEW stars have since fueled speculation publicly. Swerve Strickland openly endorsed the idea, while MJF teased fans online with New Day’s iconic catchphrase.

Bobby Lashley also reportedly expressed interest in recruiting them into The Hurt Syndicate. At this point, the rumor mill is spinning harder than a New Day trombone entrance.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods already setting down the foundations for their post-WWE future

Kingston and Woods already have convention appearances lined up, including GalaxyCon events later this month.

Promotional listings currently advertise Kingston simply as “Kofi,” while Woods is being billed as “Austin Creed.” This emerged as a potential hint at their future ring identities outside WWE.

Fightful Select also noted there is widespread belief within wrestling that AEW is the most likely landing spot for the duo once their 90-day non-compete clauses expire in August 2026.

Internally, reports suggest AEW talent and management are already discussing potential dream matches involving teams such as The Young Bucks and FTR. However, neither Kingston nor Woods has publicly confirmed their next wrestling destination.

For now, the former New Day stars remain free agents. However, interest in their next move appears stronger than ever across the industry.
