Canadian wrestling veteran The Great Kasaki (real name Anthony Fujimura) has passed away at the age of 48.
All-Star Wrestling shared the unfortunate news on X/Twitter and paid an emotional tribute, highlighting his humor, creativity, passion, and mentorship while sending condolences to his family and friends.
“ASW is profoundly disheartened to inform our fans that we have lost an ASW legend this week, The Great Kasaki. Sometimes The Weight on one’s shoulders cannot be understood. Anthony’s sense of humor, creativity, passion and mentorship skills will not be replicated. Let us look back and enjoy the greatness that was The Great Kasaki here. We send our most heartfelt wishes to Anthony’s Family and Friends – we will not forget you, our friend,” the post read.
Former WWE Superstars The Bollywood Boys’ tribute post on X/Twitter suggests that The Great Kasaki was dealing with mental health struggles before his sudden passing.
“Sad news out of the British Columbia wrestling scene. RIP Great Kasaki – glad we got to share the ring nearly 20 years ago, very early in our careers. Mental health is a real thing. Please reach out. It’s never too late,” they posted.
The Great Kasaki began his career in 2005, and his last documented match took place at a Thrash Wrestling event in October 2023. He was a longtime mainstay on the British Columbia independent wrestling scene. The late veteran was a regular in All-Star Wrestling, where he held the Tag Team and Cruiserweight Championships on multiple occasions.
We at WrestleZone extend our condolences to The Great Kasaki’s family and friends.
