Xia Brookside Wins TNA Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary

Xia Brookside is the new TNA Knockouts World Champion.

After weeks of tension, Xia Brookside challenged her former tag team partner, Lei Ying Lee, for the TNA Knockouts World Championship at the Slammiversary pay-per-view. As the daughter of veteran wrestler and coach Robbie Brookside, she entered the event facing nepotism accusations and sought to prove herself.

The animosity between the two stars was evident throughout the contest as they took each other to their limits in a match that lasted nearly 12 minutes. Xia Brookside attacked Lei Ying Lee’s left leg during the match and continued to target it. Lee regained momentum after a while and fought back with a series of kicks, but fell to the mat since the damage to her leg was severe.

The final moments of the match saw both superstars battling on the top turnbuckle. Lei Ying Lee pulled through and tried to overpower Xia Brookside by lifting her for a powerbomb, but the latter ripped away the top turnbuckle pad in the process.

Xia Brookside kicked out of a pinfall attempt after the powerbomb. Lei Ying Lee then climbed the turnbuckle, but Brookside knocked her down and sent her face-first onto the exposed turnbuckle. She then followed it up with the Darkside to get the pin and win the Knockouts World Championship for the first time in her career. TNA President Carlos Silva awarded her the title.
