Nic Nemeth Defeats Mike Santana to Regain TNA World Championship at Slammiversary

Nic Nemeth is the new TNA World Champion.

Nic Nemeth earned the title shot by cashing in his Call Your Shot Gauntlet trophy, which he co-won with Frankie Kazarian at Bound for Glory 2025. The two stars pushed each other to their limits in the match that lasted 15 minutes.

After a series of back-and-forth action, Ryan Nemeth got into the ring. However, the referee got in between him and Mike Santana and ordered the younger Nemeth brother to go to the back. Nic Nemeth then used the distraction to his advantage and attacked Santana with the Call Your Shot trophy, busting him open.

Nic Nemeth locked Mike Santana in a sleeper hold in the ring, but the latter powered through to break out of it. Nemeth then countered a Spin the Block attempt with a superkick. After some back-and-forth, Nemeth hit Santana with his finisher, but the latter kicked out.

The final moments of the match saw Mike Santana kicking out of a superkick at one and hitting one himself on Nic Nemeth. He then failed to hit a Spin the Block and ended up walking into a Danger Zone, allowing Nemeth to get the pin and become a two-time TNA World Champion.

Recent reports indicated that Mike Santana’s contract with TNA will end in mid-July and that WWE is interested in signing him. He addressed the rumors on a couple of occasions, and did so once again earlier tonight in a backstage interview with Gia Miller. It will be interesting to see whether the loss tonight will lead to him leaving the promotion for WWE in the coming days.
