WWE NXT Results:

Highlights from NXT The Great American Bash are shown as the show kicks off.

The NEW NXT Women’s Champion

NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey talks about her journey and dealing with the self-doubt she felt on her way to the title. She knows she doesn’t look like your average champion. She doesn’t wear makeup or… whatever. Grey goes on and on. Everyone is going to find out that they can’t keep up with Kendal. The Women’s Speed Champion, Wren Sinclair, brings Grey a cake to celebrate. Sinclair puts Grey over. Kelani Jordan inturupts and complains about never getting a shot at the title when Grey has had several. Tatum Paxley attacks Jordan. Grey and Sinclair eat cake and welcome the crowd to the show.

Grade: C

Grey is amazing in the ring. Not so much when it comes to promos, which will hopefully come with time. At some point, this writer hopes WWE learns they don’t have to follow this same formula every time someone wins a championship. It’s tired.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match | The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno del Mal

Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno are in control for most of this match. Smoke and Baylor hit their finish after Drake pokes Dr. Wagner Jr. in the eye.

Winners and STILL NXT Tag Team Champions, The Vanity Project!

Grade: C+

Good TV match, but the Vanity Project seems to have little to no heat. For a team that hateable to have zero heat is bizarre.

Mason Rook vs. Jackson Drake

Rook is in control early. After the break, Drake gets his knees up during a senton from Rook. Drake floor Rook with a handspring cutter. Rook kicks out. Rook fires back with a few chops and a cannonball in the corner. Drake surprises Rook with a springboard double stomp! Rook kicks out. Powerbomb by Rook. Drake kicks out. Drake counters a powerbomb with a sunset bomb. Poison ranna by Drake! Rook pops back to his feet and hits a sit-out powerbomb! Drake kicks out! Rook sets up his finish. Lockwood distracts the referee while Baylor and Smokes attack Rook. Rook clears the ring, but eats a backstabber from Drake. Lockwood holds Rook’s leg, so he can’t kick out.

Winner- Jackson Drake

Rook beats up Baylor and Smokes after the match.

Grade: B-

Fun match, but not a single move was sold the entire time.

EK Prosper vs. Keanu Carver

Carver tosses Prosper around. Prosper manages to send Carver out of the ring. Prosper lands a dive and a big splash. Carver kicks out. After the break, Carver is working over Prosper. Diving leg lariat by Prosper. Carver cuts Prosper off during a dive with an elbow strike. Carver drops Prosper on the commentary desk, face-first. While the referee is distracted, Tank hops the barricade and pushes Carver into the barricade LED board. Carver is almost counted out. As Carver gets in the ring, Prosper catches Carver with a shining wizard. Big moonsault by Prosper for the win!

Winner- EK Prosper

Grade: B-

This was a solid underdog little guy match. Prosper and Carver looked great out there, and Carver is going to murder Tank Ledger.

Jaida Parker vs. Karmen Petrovic

Parker dominates the start, capping her flurry with a teardrop hip attack in the corner. Parker gets distracted arguing with Nattie at ringside. Petrovic takes over. Petrovic works over Parker. While the referee is distracted, Nattie and Lyons attack Parker. Diggs shockingly doesn’t join in. While Petrovic is distracted, Parker lands Hypnotic. Parker isn’t done, and lays out Petrovic with Dejuvu for the win.

Winner- Jaida Parker

Grade: C+

Fun TV match. Parker has clearly found her working boots and hasn’t taken them off.

And STILL…

NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo tells us that he had to sign a bunch of waivers to compete to defend his championship. D’Angelo is willing to do whatever it takes to defend his championship. As D’Angelo walks up the ramp, Kendal Grey makes her entrance to watch the next match. Naraku attacks D’Angelo on the ramp and hits Everything is EVIL on a chair. D’Angelo’s busted open.

Grade: B

This was straight to the point.

Kelani Jordan vs. Tatum Paxley

As Jordan and Paxley trade shots in the ring, Kali Armstrong appears out of nowhere and pounces Grey out of her boots at ringside. Jordan works over Paxley’s leg. Jordan lands a modified Angle Slam. Jordan follows that with the One of a Kind Moonsault for the win.

Winner- Kelani Jordan

After the match, Nikki Blackheart attacks Paxley.

Grade: B-

As always, these two have great chemistry. Oddly enough, the more interesting thing here was Armstrong obliterating Grey at ringside.
