Former TNA Producer Says Kevin Nash Schmoozed Dixie Carter During Contract Talks

The seventh season of Dark Side of the Ring kicked off with the first two parts of Jeff Jarrett & The Battle for TNA. The documentary looked back at the early days of TNA Wrestling. One of the biggest talking points came from former TNA producer Dave Sahadi and wrestling veteran Jim Cornette. They both made claims about former TNA President Dixie Carter and WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash.

Both men alleged that Nash often tried to influence Carter during social gatherings. These interactions increased exponentially when his TNA contract was close to expiring. They suggested these conversations may have affected some of the company’s decisions behind the scenes.

Dave Sahadi recalls Kevin Nash’s conversations with Dixie Carter

Sahadi recalled one particular night at Universal Studios, where TNA used to tape its weekly shows. He said he was sitting at a bar with Dixie Carter and Kevin Nash when Nash spent a lot of time talking to Carter while his contract was coming up.

“I’ll never forget the time when I was sitting next to her and Kevin Nash at the bar at Universal Studios. Kevin is just schmoozing her because his contract is up,” Sahadi said (via Fightful Select).

Sahadi believed Nash knew exactly what Carter wanted to hear and used that to his advantage.

“There’s Nash sitting right next to her, pouring her another glass of wine. ‘Here you go, Dixie, let me tell you again all the things you need to know…Dixie, you know what I can’t wait for?’

‘What?’

‘I can’t wait until we become number one and we can go tell Vince, go f*ck yourself.’ That’s what Dixie wanted to hear,” Sahadi added.

Jim Cornette shared a similar story in the documentary.

He claimed Nash often sat next to Carter during social events, poured her wine, and continued giving her advice while agreeing with her ideas.

“There’s Nash sitting right next to her, pouring her another glass of wine. ‘Here you go, Dixie, let me tell you again all the things you need to know,'” Cornette said.

Cornette also called Carter a “money mark.” This is a wrestling term to describe someone with a lot of money who invests heavily in wrestling despite not amassing experience in the business.

The documentary also suggested that several wrestlers and wrestling personalities tried to build close relationships with Carter in hopes of getting better contracts or more creative influence in TNA.

The story isn’t over yet. Part 3 of Jeff Jarrett & The Battle for TNA will air on VICE TV on Tuesday, July 14.
