Dixie Carter reportedly chose not to participate in the upcoming three-part Dark Side of the Ring documentary centered around TNA Wrestling, despite multiple invitations from the production team.
The decision leaves one of the promotion’s most important former executives absent from a project generating significant attention ahead of its July premiere.
According to PWInsider, Carter was approached several times to appear in the TNA-focused episodes but ultimately declined every request. No official reason has been given for her decision.
Carter served as TNA president from 2002 through 2017 after her family company, Panda Energy, stepped in to acquire the promotion during one of the company’s most unstable financial periods.
Following the collapse of support from HealthSouth Ltd amid a fraud scandal, Panda Energy helped keep TNA operational. Then, Carter became one of the promotion’s most visible public figures both on-screen and behind the scenes.
Given her deep connection to TNA’s rise, struggles, and survival, her absence from the documentary immediately stands out.
Major TNA figures still participating in Dark Side Of The Ring amid Dixie Carter’s absence
While Carter declined involvement, several major names tied to TNA reportedly sat down for extensive interviews for the series. Those figures include Jeff Jarrett, Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, and The Hardy Boyz.
Matt Hardy later revealed on his podcast that both he and Jeff Hardy recorded more than two hours of material each for the documentary. Hardy also suggested the project heavily explores Jarrett’s personal redemption arc and TNA’s current position.
“We talked about how Jeff Jarrett came out the other end in a much better place,” Hardy explained.
Season seven of Dark Side of the Ring premieres July 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Vice TV. The season opens with two back-to-back episodes covering TNA and Jarrett before the trilogy concludes the following week.
Additional episodes this season will focus on Paul Orndorff, Big Boss Man, Missy Hyatt, Zach Gowen, and the infamous 2005 match between Samoa Joe and Necro Butcher.
