Former WWE star Dakota Kai has announced her engagement to Karl Fredericks.
Kai, who also goes by Charlie, shared the happy news during a recent episode of the ZELVX and CHARLIE GIRL podcast, which she co-hosts with former WWE star Zelina Vega. She revealed that Fredericks proposed on their second anniversary, although things didn’t go exactly as he had planned.
Even with a few unexpected problems, the night ended with Kai saying “yes.”

The announcement came while Kai was talking about how Fredericks had introduced her to new movies. Vega smiled and said, “I love that she’s now watching all that stuff. That that makes me happy, because I’m just like, ‘A man with taste.’”
Kai then repeated the phrase and held up her hand to show off her engagement ring, confirming that the couple is officially engaged.
Kai also said Fredericks had planned a special anniversary date. The couple first had dinner at an Italian restaurant before heading to a garden filled with fairy lights and market stalls. That was where Fredericks originally wanted to propose.
However, when they arrived, the venue was already closed. Kai had no idea what Fredericks had planned and thought they should head home. But Fredericks quickly came up with a new idea. He suggested driving about 30 minutes to Sanford, Florida, where the couple had gone on their second date.
Kai admitted she wasn’t excited about the extra drive because it was getting late, but she agreed because she could tell Fredericks still wanted to do something special.
“He’s like, ‘Uh, why don’t we… let’s go to Sanford because that’s where we had our second date and it was like a special place.’ But I’m also like, ‘It’s 30 minutes away.’ I’m like, ‘By the time we get to sleep, it’s going to be late.’ I didn’t say that to him because I could tell he was like, ‘Let’s do something.’ So I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s go.’ It’s fine,” Kai said.
Once they got there, Kai said Fredericks suddenly stopped in the middle of the street while she kept trying to walk ahead, not realizing what was happening. After letting a few cars pass, he brought her back into the street, started speaking, and then got down on one knee.
“And then when the cars go, he pulls me back out into the middle of the street and then starts his spiel… and then he did the question,” Kai said.
Kai happily accepted the proposal. She also revealed that Fredericks had been planning the proposal for months.
The couple first made their relationship public in July 2024, and now, two years later, they are engaged.
