WWE Confirms NXT Championship Street Fight For Next Week

WWE has made next week’s NXT even bigger. General Manager Robert Stone has announced that Tony D’Angelo will defend the WWE NXT Championship against Naraku in a Street Fight on the July 21, 2026, episode.

The decision came after another wild night between the two rivals. Their title rematch was originally set as a regular match, but after multiple fights broke out during the show, Stone changed it into a Street Fight.

Tony D’Angelo and Naraku’s rivalry reaches a breaking point

On the July 14 episode of NXT, Naraku faced Tate Wilder in a singles match. Wilder got off to a strong start with quick offense, using arm drags, a bodyslam, and a dropkick to send Naraku to the outside.

However, Naraku took control. He slowed the match down with an STF and a reverse chinlock before stopping Wilder’s comeback. Wilder nearly stole the win, but Naraku finished him off with Into the Abyss to pick up the victory.

The match was over, but right after the bell, Tony D’Angelo rushed into the ring and attacked Naraku. Security tried to break them up, but things got more chaotic when Naraku tried to spray his signature poison mist into the face of Angelo, but instead it hit one of the guards.

Later in the night, D’Angelo met Robert Stone backstage and demanded another match with Naraku. Stone agreed to book the rematch for next week, but the champion wasn’t ready to wait.

Things got even more violent near the end of the show. As the commentary team was running down next week’s matches, cameras cut to the parking lot, where D’Angelo and Naraku were fighting again.

Stone rushed outside to stop them, but after seeing the brawl, he decided enough was enough. Instead of trying to keep them apart, Stone officially turned next week’s WWE NXT Championship match into a Street Fight.

Given how personal the rivalry has become, the new stipulation makes perfect sense.
