Harley Cameron has been ruled out of AEW television after a brutal attack by Hikaru Shida. During the July 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, the company confirmed that Cameron is out of action indefinitely following the assault after her AEW TBS Championship match on the July 11 episode of AEW Collision.
Cameron entered Collision hoping to win the TBS Championship after building strong momentum over the past few months. She gave Hikaru Shida a tough fight.
During the match, Shida locked Cameron in a modified bow-and-arrow. Cameron couldn’t escape and was forced to tap out, giving Shida her first successful TBS Championship defense since winning the vacant title.
But the match didn’t end there. After the bell, Shida kept attacking Cameron until Queen Aminata rushed to the ring and chased her away.
AEW provides Harley Cameron’s injury update on Dynamite
Cameron needed medical attention after the attack, and AEW has now confirmed that the injuries are serious enough to keep her out indefinitely.
On this week’s Dynamite, AEW replayed the post-match attack before giving fans an update on Cameron.
The commentary team announced that Cameron has been ruled out indefinitely because of the injuries she suffered. AEW didn’t reveal exactly what the injuries are, and there is no word yet on when she will return.
The update officially takes Cameron off TV for now while also showing just how ruthless Shida has become as TBS Champion. The angle also seems to set up a possible feud between Shida and Queen Aminata, who stepped in to stop the attack.
The injury update brings an end, at least for now, to one of Cameron’s strongest runs in AEW.
She first became popular through her entertaining character work with QTV and later The Outcasts. Her biggest success came when she teamed with Willow Nightingale as the Babes of Wrath. Together, they became the first-ever AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions.
Later, Cameron kept building momentum as a singles wrestler and eventually earned her a shot at Shida’s TBS Championship.
