This weekend’s WWE NXT Live event will be a big one for one official, who is set to debut with the company.
In a recent post on social media, NXT’s head referee Darryl Sharma shared the news that this weekend’s live events at NXT will mark the debut of a new referee, Katie Reynolds.
Sharma shared a photo of himself with Reynolds, and welcomed her to the team. Prior to her time in WWE, Reynolds spent time officiating for Ohio Valley Wrestling and TNA Wrestling.
Most notably for Reynolds, she was a part of a match at TNA Rebellion between Steve Maclin and Mike Santana, which ended early after Maclin suffered a head injury. Maclin later praised Reynolds for stopping the match and protecting him, and TNA would go on to present Reynolds with an All-Star Award for it.
“Ref Alice, as everybody knows her, but her real name is Katie; she was there, and she was the savior I needed,” Steve Maclin said of the incident earlier this year. “That’s why I even asked for her for the match. I always ask for Katie for all my big matches or any match in general, because she gets it. She listens to me. I call my audibles to her beforehand, and she knows to relay that. She proved that she is very proficient at her job that night, just because she stepped in. She knew something was wrong, and when she was talking to me, I was coherently talking to her like we are now, like, ‘Hey, I’m good, just give me a minute. Tell him to give me a minute. Hold on a sec.’
