#5.) vs Bobby Roode – NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III

This may have been comparatively the most underwhelming main event in the history of Takeover: Brooklyn, don’t sleep on it. There’s no denying that it wasn’t at the caliber of Bayley-Sasha Banks, Kevin Owens-Finn Balor or Tomasso Ciampa-Johnny Gargano, it was an absolutely stellar main event.

It was WWE’s best option at the time for the main event and Bobby Roode’s undefeated streak ended at the hands of Drew McIntyre. McIntyre had hardly returned to WWE and within four months of his NXT run, captured the NXT Championship. The match had good, well-paced psychology. The post-match debut of Adam Cole made it even sweeter.

It also marked the end of the “Hottest free agent winning the title” storyline that NXT had been recycling for a while.
