Former WWE star Braun Strowman recently revealed how a small television appearance helped him catch the attention of former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
While many fans remember Braun Strowman’s dominant debut as a member of The Wyatt Family in 2015, his journey to the main roster began in a much different role. Before joining Bray Wyatt’s group, Strowman briefly appeared on WWE television as one of Adam Rose’s “Rosebuds.” According to Strowman, that unexpected opportunity ended up changing his career.
Braun Strowman made his main roster debut on the RAW after SummerSlam 2015, attacking Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, now known as Jon Moxley. However, before that moment, he was still developing in NXT and dealing with several injuries.
How Braun Strowman caught Vince McMahon’s attention
Speaking to 10,000 NOs, Braun Strowman recalled how he was chosen to be part of Adam Rose’s entrance and how the role unexpectedly caught McMahon’s eye. He said, “There was a guy at the time named Adam Rose and his gimmick was this party guy and he had this party bus and a group of motley crew, random people, in his entrance he’d come out with all these people dancing, he’d climb up on the ropes and then trust fall back into us.”
According to Strowman, he tried to make the most of the small opportunity, which ultimately impressed McMahon.
“I was gifted the part of catching him and was wearing this Fisher Price Roman Spartan plastic outfit, and Vince saw me out there goofing and it was like ‘who the hell is that and why is he doing this?’ So I literally took this tiny goofy opportunity to do something on TV, and I showed out, made the most out of it, and it caught the boss’ attention, and he literally, at that time I had four wrestling matches in my entire life.”
Strowman revealed that McMahon saw potential in him despite his lack of experience at the time. “‘He said, ‘I see something in you, I know you don’t know what you’re doing, we’re gonna learn on the road’, and he debuted me the Monday Night Raw after SummerSlam, four matches in my entire career.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]
