Seth Rollins’ Best WWE PPV Matches

Seth Rollins has been part of some of the best WWE PPV matches over the years. The Visionary has given fans some of the greatest in-ring action inside the squared circle. His work between the ropes has made him the best wrestler in the world in the eyes of many fans.

Even with all the injuries he’s accumulated over the course of his career, Rollins continues to perform at a higher level. He recently suffered an injury during the January 15 episode of Monday Night RAW.

The World Heavyweight Championship has been pulled from RAW and house shows for the next few weeks. He’s reportedly set to make his televised return on the February 12, 2024, episode of the red brand.

While we wait for the champion to properly heal himself, let’s send a little bit of appreciation his way by looking at some of his best WWE PPV matches:

Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (SummerSlam 2015)

John Cena’s United States Championship run remains one of the greatest mid-card title runs of all time. The Cenation was giving PPV level matches on weekly television. His match against the likes of Sami Zayn and Cesaro (aka Claudio Castagnoli) truly restored the prestige of the title.

Cena would put his title on the line against then-World Champion Seth Rollins in a “Winner Takes All” match at SummerSlam 2015. This match was a fantastic display of athleticism and ground-based wrestling.

Rollins pulled out all the stops to show why they call him WWE’s workhorse. Cena gave one of his best career performances in this match. The interference from John Stewart was the only underwhelming aspect from the match.

Seth Rollins vs. Edge (Crown Jewel 2021)

Having Edge take on Seth Rollins in his second WWE stint was a great decision by Vince McMahon. The Monday Night Messiah truly brought out the best in the Rated R Superstar. Their first singles meeting went down at SummerSlam 2021.

They’d have another critically acclaimed match on SmackDown in September. The best match of the trilogy, however, came at Crown Jewel 2021. This was a chaotic brawl inside the infamous Hell in a Cell.

Both men made good use of the weapons inside the cell. There were plenty of high-risk spots. It’s a surprise that the cell itself doesn’t became of much use in this match. In the end, Edge put away Rollins with his own Curb Stomp for the win.

The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family (Elimination Chamber 2013)

The Shield and The Wyatt Family had one of the most interesting feuds in the 2010s. Fans had been wanting both teams to go against each other. A chaotic collision on RAW set the tone for the six-man tag team match at Elimination Chamber 2013.

Seth Rollins emerged as the MVP of this match. The Architect pulled off some incredible moves to a huge pop from the crowd. He also took a nasty bump on the announce table. The feud should’ve continued past Elimination Chamber while it was red hot.

Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes (Hell in a Cell 2022)

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins had arguably the best trilogy in 2022. The American Nightmare made his WWE return at WrestleMania 38. He’d pick up the win against the Revolutionary in a show stealer.

Their next match went down at WrestleMania Backlash. The final and arguably the best in the series took place at Hell in a Cell. Rhodes entered the match with his pectoral muscle completely torn off the bone.

The reveal led to an uncomfortable silence from the crowd in attendance. The injury didn’t stop both men from giving a five-star classic inside the cell. Here’s hoping they run it back for the world title in 2024.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble 2015)

Pre-injury Seth Rollins was a different animal. The Architect was giving bangers after bangers on weekly television and at PPV events. One of his greatest matches came against both John Cena and Brock Lesnar in 2015.

Not only is this match one of the greatest non-Rumble matches, it is one of the best WWE PPV matches of all time. From Brock Lesnar’s double suplex on J&J Security to Rollins’ elbow drop from the top turnbuckle, this triple threat match put the future Messiah on a higher pedestal.
