New Catch Republic vs. Authors of Pain

Neither of these two teams managed to earn a shot at the tag team titles previously on SmackDown. Akam and Rezar would ambush Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne on the April 26, 2024, episode of the blue brand.

Bate and Dunne would, in return, cost AOP their tag team title matches against Axiom and Nathan Frazer at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2. NCR and AOP will clash on the final WWE SmackDown before Backlash.

The first-ever RKO Show comes to WWE SmackDown

Common enemies have caused Kevin Owens and Randy Orton to form an unlikely alliance. Both men worked together briefly against Logan Paul in their triple threat United States Championship match at WrestleMania XL Night 2.

The Viper would also come to the aid of Owens against The Bloodline on the WWE Draft edition of SmackDown. Both men have had it with Solo Sikoa and his “MFT” Tama Tonga. KO and Orton are set to host the first-ever RKO Show tonight on SmackDown ahead of their tag team match at Backlash France.

What could possibly go wrong?

A-Town Down Under (c) vs. The Street Profits – WWE Tag Team Championship

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller became the SmackDown Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 40 Night 1. The pair were awarded the new WWE Tag Team Championship in the lead-up to Backlash France. Theory and Waller watched as The Street Profits became the new number one contenders to the tag team titles.

The champions and the challengers are set to collide on SmackDown this week. Can A-Town Down Under continue their run as the WWE Tag Team Champions, or will the Profits emerge topple them for the gold?

We’ll find out tonight.

Cody Rhodes & AJ Styles come face-to-face on WWE SmackDown

AJ Styles defeated LA Knight in a solid opener on the April 19, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown. The win earned him at shot at Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Both men signed the contract on the WWE Draft episode of SmackDown.

Styles tried to jump Rhodes following his brilliant outing against Carmelo Hayes in the main event later that night. Both men paused for a moment before shaking hands to show respect. They’ll come face-to-face for the final time before Backlash France.
