Title This: Impact Wrestling Reaction 1-17-13

Impact WrestlingThe Undercard:

James Storm and Jeff Hardy defeated Bad Influence to kick off another edition of Impact Wrestling. Once again, it seems like an odd pairing, with Hardy and Storm having each other's back. I really thought the wrestling part of this match was entertaining, with Hardy taking over on Kazarian. He comes in to save Storm, hits a few clothesline and a spinning kick to get control. Also, I just love the atomic drop followed with a leg split leg drop. I love the chemistry Hardy has with pretty much anyone he wrestles, and you can tell in this match. The overall progression and flow of the match was great, and the ending was much talked about. Daniels, who will face Hardy, beats him down after the match. Even though Daniels is an odd pick to face Hardy, at least they are making something out of him being the contender. If this is the build, it is small, but at least they are being logical. Grade: B

Kenny King defeated Christian York in some X Division action. Kenny King is so much more athletic, faster, and more complete in the ring than York. I am always a huge fan of great stories, and York is one. I see York as a guy who really struggles in finding the right pacing of the match. When he hits a spinning heel kick, it looks like it takes him time to actually follow through, and also has him planning out each spot. The fans should not be able to see and guess what is coming next, especially in a tough move like that. King gets a quick rollup for the win, and he continues to be a guy I look at in dethroning RVD for the X Division Championship. Grade: C+

Velvet Sky defeated Gail Kim. The Knockouts match of the night features two women of different careers. Kim is always considered to be one of the best technicians in the ring, as a female. Sky has come back to TNA, and it looks like she is getting the full push to the top. In my personal opinion, Kim deserves to face Tara with her overall track record, but the fresh blood and face that gets over with the crowd is what you need. Gail did not look extremely weak when losing, since it took Sky's foot under the rope to break up the count. Velvet hit her finisher for the victory, and kept the focus on her climbing the ladder. Grade: C
