Isenberg and Killam Run Down the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank Participants

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes

Josh Isenberg: We all know that Cody has been a fan favorite of mine for quite some time. He has proven that he can change characters when need be. From the grooming ladies man to the mentally ill mask wearer, Rhodes sees himself in a cross roads in his career. WWE can give him the briefcase and utilize his fullest potential. I do not see this happening because he keeps losing and losing. When was the last solid victory for Rhodes? He continually is putting other guys over and is used as a jobber to the main event stars. Unfortunately, I cannot pick Rhodes to win simply because nobody would take him seriously. When you lose to Jimmy and Jey on Smackdown, people cannot see you being the next World Heavyweight Champion. They need to build him up first before they throw something this important on him.

Mike Killam: I've got to agree with Isenberg here – Cody hasn't won a memorable match in what seems like years, and even if WWE were crazy enough to take on chance on him with Money in the Bank, nobody would take him seriously. Cody has great talent, and a Hall of Fame bloodline, but as we've seen with guys like Ted DiBiase, Deuce, The Usos, and Nattie Niedhart a famous daddy and a bit of in-ring skill doesn't guarantee you anything in the wrestling business. CM Punk sat down on an entrance ramp and made people listen to him. The Rock learned how to harness his heat and work the crowd like a fiddle; that connection was impossible to ignore. One thing guys like Punk, Bryan, and Edge had in common is that they didn't NEED Money in the Bank to become a top star – they would have gotten there on their own given enough time. I'm not sure Cody Rhodes has that potential, but if it's buried down deep in him somewhere, he needs to go out there and do something to force Vince or Hunter's hand. Cody is dashing; he needs to become untouchable.
