The New Day Wins Tag Team Gold

extreme rules Well, file this under a big surprise to me. I should have seen WWE going with the only realistic heel tag team they have to win the titles. Cesaro and Kidd are very well liked by the WWE Universe because of their technical abilities. New Day is shoved down our throats, which gave them these titles. It is not a bad booking decision because it will only give them more heel heat. In the long run, I do think that Cesaro and Kidd will be the biggest beneficiaries here. They lose and can really get the crowd behind them. They have NO competition in face tag teams, aside from The Lucha Dragons. I want Prime Time Players to be utilized, but that might take a little longer now.

It is all about depth in this specific division. They must build from the ground up. New Day was in the ground and almost dead until the WWE Universe decided to boo the hell out of them. Hey, at least they are garnering some sort of reaction. That is always the hardest thing to do.

Underwhelming Championship Match

I think this was the worst of the three matches with John Cena and Rusev. There is no way that John Cena was going to lose tonight, but how should WWE have booked Rusev? He should not have gotten pinned. He should not have cleanly lost. There was no win-win situation for him and tonight was not the best match between these guys. It lacked something.

This match lacked the intensity from WrestleMania. It felt like a main event on WWE Raw, not a championship match on the PPV after Mania. I wanted a Last Man Standing Match, where both guys could not make the ten count. It gives us a reason for Rusev to get another chance. He lost tonight and lost a match that does NOTHING but hurt him. What is the bargaining chip for him getting ANOTHER match with John Cena?

It will ultimately come down to WWE Payback and an “I Quit” Match. Does any of us REALLY think Cena will say those words, words that he has never said before? Unless Rusev does something similar to Mick Foley and The Rock from Royal Rumble over a decade ago, then I am not sure what this match does for him. Where does he go from here?

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school.
