A British Point of View: THAT Undertaker & Lesnar Finish

WWE had specific goals in this match. Undertaker was supposed to have used the low blow again to gain the victory, he was also supposed to tap out as a shocking moment to show more weakness, Lesnar was supposed to be robbed of a victory and kept strong for another match probably at WrestleMania 32. It was by no means meant to be an ending to the rivalry but yet another chapter in the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar saga. My suggested finish would have still had all those factors but without the confusion of the bad booking.

That said, the match itself was fantastic. I cringed every time Lesnar delivered a German suplex, worrying that Undertaker may sustain another concussion. I winced at every legitimate shot they landed, which gave itself to the brawl it was destined to be. I just wish that a little more care had been taken in this finish so that the talking point could have been the legendary Undertaker tapping out rather than a timekeeper making a decision he shouldn’t have.

So far it’s been a very interesting weekend of wrestling and it looks like we’ll have another chapter later on with RAW. Maybe WWE will have something clever up their sleeves to explain last night’s events?

I think SummerSlam in general was an enjoyable show and apart from the finish, most of the predictions I made in my last article were pretty accurate. However, as we know predictability isn’t always a bad thing, as long as you pull it off with style.

Have you enjoyed the weekend so far? Did you think NXT Take Over outperformed SummerSlam? Did you feel the SummerSlam finish ruined the show or do you think people are being a little too harsh on what was a good PPV?
