Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “All Hands On Deck For The New Day”

I Do Not Like This Version of Rusev

wwe smackdownRusev was dominant. His character was such a throwback, from the gear to the expression-less motions to the quick switch of anger and aggression. He was controlled by a woman who spoke so cold and so calculating. When he lost Lana, he lost it all.

Rusev is being booked like another guy. He is being booked like a heel who loses clean and wins with help. For Summer Rae to get married to him, he needs gold around his waist for her to get it on her finger. Now, Rusev holds the power and more layers have peeled off that just do not fit.

You needed to see more of Rusev in a personal light, but definitely not like this. With a clean loss to Ryback, Rusev has the look of a more talented Vladimir Kozlov. He is big and strong, pushed to the ceiling only to fall fast. They are trying too hard to make him normal. He was great because he was NOT NORMAL. I still hold out plenty of hope, but when Lana was cheered and they split, there has not been anything from Rusev that reminds me of the Bulgarian Brute. It is more like the Bulgarian B*tch.

King Barrett defeated Neville

King Barrett returns to action against Neville. With the usual match, Neville took control with some flips and a nice moonsault. King turned the tables with a big boot and capitalized on a missed move from Neville. He hits a Bullhammer for the win.

Nothing to note, similar to what Barrett has been doing for two years. A talented guy with NO direction. Neville plays the happy face who excites and loses, similar to Kofi Kingston before joining The New Day. One positive sign? King Barrett’s shirt says he is the “King of Bad News.” Does this mean Bad News could be coming back?
