Steve Austin was so good, it was always going to work. But Vince stooging for Austin was huge. Every time Austin sold for Vince, Vince sold tons more.
The same needs to happen now. When Reigns and Triple H meet, Reigns has to win clean, and absolutely decisively. If Reigns and Vince battle, Reigns has to get the better of it 90 percent of the time. The same goes when Reigns and Stephanie clash.
WWE has had all these “prospects,” but this is the first time in a long time that any of them is on the verge of legit and true elevation to a John Cena level of being over. WWE needs to look at why that’s happening, and not screw it up.
Desperation drove McMahon to stooge for Austin. There’s no real competition for WWE, not like WCW then. But that same desperation needs to exist now. Do anything and everything to go all the way with Reigns.
WWE producer Brian James says on Twitter that cash is flowing like never before. That may or may not be true.
But a better product, with a new, legit top babyface, would really turn on the spigot.
