Isenberg Reacts: WWE Raw “A New Champion, A Familiar Beast”

A New United States Champion

wwe rawWWE went with a bold, but very appropriate move when Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio to become the new WWE United States Champion. Ever since The League of Nations became a thing:

  1. Sheamus lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship…on Raw.
  2. Alberto Del Rio lost the WWE United States Championship…on Raw.
  3. King Barrett is still…well you know
  4. Rusev looks hurt, slow and ineffective. Also, Lana has been useless

So, why is this so good? Well, Kalisto deserves this. He is just spectacular in every single way. His offense in the ring surpasses what Rey Mysterio could do, yet he feels like a believable champion. I love the fact that WWE stepped out of their comfort zone and gave Kalisto the title. See what happens. Alberto Del Rio did NOTHING important with that title. If anything, the United States Championship could give Kalisto a huge push up the card and connect with the Latin American crowd. Smart move. Bold and very interested to see where it goes from here. A new star could be in the making.

The Beast is Back

In all of the happenings with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, where he had to face “everyone,” the fans were awaiting the beast in Brock Lesnar. It was a matter of time and WWE did a smart thing keeping him until the very end. Forget the National Championship as competition because nothing will stop those ratings. WWE focused on making the stars of the show the most important thing. I can’t disagree with it at all. Maybe I would have had Paul Heyman cut a promo to kick things off, but you knew Brock Lesnar was there. Either way, “One versus All” was a stupid match idea and was only saved when Lesnar came out and destroyed everyone.

Many people complain that the Royal Rumble match will be predictable. Lesnar and Reigns very well may be two of the last guys, but I do think WWE has an Ace up their sleeve. Being predictable isn’t always bad, if it is the logical thing to do.
