Targeting Teams For The New Day

The New Day picked up a six man tag team victory over The Lucha Dragons and Neville in what was an EXCELLENT match. Neville hit some great moves, including a 450 splash off the apron, followed by Kalisto doing the same thing off of Neville’s back. In the ring, Kofi was able to duck Sin Cara and hit a Trouble in Paradise to pick up the victory.

Moving forward in the night saw The Dudley Boyz and The Uso’s continue their feud. With a focus on these teams, there needs to be more interaction with the actual champions. A tag team is no good when they are not chasing the titles. I really thought WWE dropped the ball Sunday night when not announcing a tag team championship match with Edge and Christian involved. I do think that plans are altered a bit, with WWE potentially having The New Day vs. The Uso’s vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The League of Nations.

Adding that team gives the match more “main event” names. With Alberto Del Rio potentially getting involved in some mid card championship match (US Title potentially), Sheamus and Rusev could align together and go after the titles. That would be my pick for the match, but again, WWE had a great 6 man tag team match followed by the continuation of a heel Dudley Boyz tag team.

The Beast vs. Dean Ambrose

Paul Heyman comes out and unloads on the events from FastLane, talking about how Roman Reigns was about to tap out to the Kimora Lock. That was the case, until Dean Ambrose hit him with a chair. Paul Heyman talks about how they eliminated Dean Ambrose earlier and now Brock Lesnar needs an opponent. Dean Ambrose appears back from the hospital and driving an ambulance. He drags his body to the ring, only to get stepped on and hit with an F-5. He then challenges Brock Lesnar to a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania, which he accepts.

Dean Ambrose’s stock rose tremendously over the past month, which is why he is getting the nod to face Brock Lesnar. I am not sure about this pairing, though. It seems to “minor league” for Brock Lesnar. Think of it in these terms: Brock and Triple H, Brock and The Undertaker and then Brock Lesnar as champion. Now, he will be in the third most important match of the night.

Is this utilizing him to the fullest? He is their biggest mainstream name right now and not many people outside of wrestling know who Dean Ambrose is. Hopefully, this will help Ambrose get noticed to a more broad area, but I am just not sure that the LOOK of these two will intrigue many people. The storyline could be really fun to see and the match needed a stipulation for Dean to even the playing field. I just wonder why they changed ideas from Bray to Dean. Optimistic, but still need to see the next 3 weeks of programming to sell me on this feud. They definitely know how to make Dean connect with the crowd, though.
