This is Why The Intercontinental Championship Matters

When you have four guys that could legit become world champions in the future, or have been in the past, you get a new level of importance on a dying championship. The Intercontinental Championship match at Extreme Rules will feature the four men who did battle to headline Smackdown. Sami Zayn and Cesaro defeated Kevin Owens and The Miz.

Yes, we know tag team matches mean so little on Smackdown. Tonight reminded us that there is some serious talent aiming for this championship and will continue to gun for it in the next few months. I loved the main event and how WWE is finally putting importance on this title. I would love to see something like this main event Raw in a few weeks, but it might not. My biggest concern is that WWE does not let the IC title become an afterthought in the next month with Money in the Bank approaching. Make the IC title something of its own, where people WANT to fight for it. Do not make it secondary or a consolation prize.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
