Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “Where Are The Mid Card Contenders At?

The Club and Enzo/Cass Talk Off

Enzo and Cass make their way to the ring and talk about what they did on Monday. They say it has nothing to do about John Cena, but about The Club bullying everyone in the WWE. This prompts the heels, led by Styles, to appear on Smackdown. They talk about how they were interrupted while doing what they do best. Enzo and Cass exchange some words with them and this leads to AJ Styles vs. Enzo Amore.

Enzo and AJ Styles worked well together, even though Enzo took a dirty looking bump. With hell breaking loose on the outside, including Cass hitting some big boots, Styles threw Enzo into the corner and then finished him off with the Styles Clash.

This feud took up two solid segments on Smackdown and was well worth it. Talking about how Enzo and Cass did this NOT because of John Cena was smart. They do not need to be buddies with him, as it could backfire from the WWE Universe. Addressing this first was critical and the match itself made Styles look really good, even with lower competition that a JOHN CENA. The six man tag team match needs the heels to win, needs Cena to NOT be a part of the decision. Styles and Cena will facee off at SummerSlam and this is a very smart match to place between two Pay-Per-View. Enzo and Cass get a good rub and it seems like no loss can really hurt them right now.

Who is Next For The Miz?

The Miz picked up a win over Kalisto tonight on Smackdown. We knew how this match would play out and it was decent. My bigger concern is the next opponent for The Miz. With WWE focusing so much on the world title, AJ Styles/John Cena and Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn, they forgot to build long feuds for their mid card champions.

When The Miz heads to Brooklyn for SummerSlam, he will most likely get booed out of the arena. He is a natural heel, one who everyone loves to hate. He is a rarity, but he is doing some of his best work. I do think there needs to be a fresh face to fight him. But, who? Do we give the call to a guy like Apollo Crews? Cesaro? NXT guy?
