In a championship night on Smackdown Live, Becky Lynch went after Alexa Bliss to try and recapture the women’s championship title. Bliss, controlling the action early, was able to escape an armbar applied from Becky. Becky fired back with kicks into the corner and then a springboard kick to knock down the champion. Becky would only get a two count and Bliss got back to her feet. Alexa got some of her offense in, but Becky hit a Bexplex for another two count. It seems as if Alexa would be dropping the title, but La Luchadora came out.

A woman dressed in a mask came out to distract Becky Lynch. Alexa took advantage with a moonsault into knees in the stomach of Lynch. Becky applied the armbar and Bliss got her foot on the rope. It looked like her arm was dislocated, popped back into place and she hit a DDT to retain the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship.

The involvement of a masked woman worked well. I liked the match very much, with Alexa continuing to improve and showcase how athletic ability. She is owning the little things in the ring. Her facial expressions, the way she acts when something does not go her way and how she applied holds and pinfalls are really something that is hard to quickly adapt. She looks like a natural in the ring, working with Becky Lynch in a solid program.

What is next for these women? I do think Becky Lynch continues to get her shots at the title, but time will come when either Mickie James, Eva Marie or Tamina Snuka return and make an impact. When that happens, all cards are out the window and we roll towards something new and exciting.
