Ruthie Jay Believes She Has Everything It Takes To Become NWA Women’s Champion

Ruthie Jay is feeling confident heading into her NWA Women’s Championship match at NWA Samhain.

As Kenzie Paige sets out to potentially eclipse the reign of former NWA Women’s Champion Kamille, she’ll have to overcome the “5-Star Athlete,” Ruthie Jay. On October 28, Paige will defend her NWA World Women’s World Championship against Ruthie Jay at the NWA Samhain pay-per-view. WrestleZone spoke with Jay ahead of this title match, gathering her thoughts on the possibility of walking out of Samhain as the new NWA Women’s Champion.

“It would mean the world [to win the title]. It would honestly mean the world to me to become the NWA World Women’s Champion,” Ruthie Jay said. “I feel like, in my career, I’ve done so little, but yet so much in such a short period of time. And I feel like every time I step into the ring, I impress someone. Someone will come back and watch my show. Somebody will come back and purchase my merchandise. I feel like I have it, everything it takes to be a women’s champion.”

Confidence

Winning a championship may not be an easy task, but Ruthie Jay is undeterred. In fact, Jay reveals that confidence was firmly instilled into her from a young age.

“I would say I’ve always had it, I just had to get it. It was wrapped under a Christmas present, and I just had to find it because as a kid I wasn’t very confident, but I was confident in myself and how I looked. So growing up, doing things that were entertainment-wise, because I was a dancer for seven years, I was always out there entertaining people. For you to go out there in a sparkly outfit, dancing, you have to have confidence,” Jay said.

“So for me, I always wanted to be the best at everything that I do. Even as a dancer, I was dance captain because I wanted to be the first person you see dancing. So with that, comes confidence. You have to believe that you’re the best person, and that was instilled in me very young.”
