Kairi Sane and Tessa Blanchard had crossed paths in Japan but never really faced off before. This made it even more exciting when they were announced to face each other in the first round of the inaugural Mae Young Classic. It was by and far the best match of the first round and Sane proved why she’s one of the best female wrestlers in the world.
It was hard-hitting, intense and action-packed throughout, as a hot Full Sail crowd was behind Kairi Sane. It was a display for the Japanese star, who had to struggle to get out of the first round. She did so successfully and would go on to win the tournament. She and Blanchard hugged as a show of respect after the match.
