#2.) Chris Benoit – 2004

It’s a shame that we can never really look at Chris Benoit’s greatest moments without feeling sadness over the final days of his life. He managed to taint and add a black mark to what was actually one of the most legendary careers in pro wrestling. Regardless, we’ll choose to acknowledge one of the greatest performances of his career – the Royal Rumble 2004.

Benoit was the first entrant and had to fight tooth and nail to overcome 29 other superstars. He set the record for lasting the longest in the Rumble (which was broken two years later, as mentioned), and at the end, had to eliminate The Big Show to get the win. Fans were behind Benoit the whole way through and he displayed a lot of heart as he sealed his spot in the main event of WrestleMania.
