#3.) Baron Corbin

This is one that should have gone down well but didn’t. It was 2017 and Baron Corbin was viewed as the brightest rising star on the SmackDown roster. Set to receive a major push – he won the biggest match of his career – the MITB ladder match. Overcome a flurry of elite superstars, The Lone Wolf would walk out with the briefcase, with fans all but certain that he was going to be a World champion sooner than later.

Except, WWE did a terrible job in handling Corbin and he too, ended up with a failed cash-in. It felt like a real waste of an MITB winner, with many believing that Corbin should have walked out World Champion. Instead, he would win the United States title soon after, but he was in the midst of start-stop pushes, so he never got to progress as much as WWE had hoped.
