New Japan Need To Watch (10/16) Road To Power Struggle *No Spoilers*

Show is available at NJPWWorld.com

FIRST MATCH: Ren Narita, Shota Umino & Toa Henare vs. Ayato Yoshida, Yota Tsuji & Yuya Uemura

Really phenomenal showcase for the Young Lions. Yoshida’s stiff style is making him a standout. Starting to get KENTA or Shibata vibes from him. Definitely worth the watch, as everyone involved gets time to strut their stuff.

Need To Watch Rating: (5.1)

SECOND MATCH: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Great Bash Heel (Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma) vs. Bullet Club Elite (Kota Ibushi, Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi)

Tanahashi & Ibushi always have great chemistry. Owens has definitely come into his own during the BC Civil War, and that is long overdue.

Need To Watch Rating: (3.9)

THIRD MATCH: CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada, Chuckie T, Beretta & Toru Yano) vs. The Firing Squad (Jay White, Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa)

The debut of the new Firing Squad. Jay White continues to be a cocky prig. Beretta, Yano & Chuckie are a fun trio, with Broken Okada making the team a fun time all around. Good, if not essential.

Need To Watch Rating: (4.0)

FOURTH MATCH: Super Jr. Tag League Match: Tiger Mask & Jushin Thunder Liger vs. The Firing Squad (Taiji Ishimori & Robbie Eagles)

Liger & Tiger Mask help break in NJPW’s newest recruit, Robbie Eagles. Eagles makes a strong showing against the NJPW Legends and his chemistry with Ishimori is already advanced enough to warrant inclusion in this tournament. This was a gripping start to this year’s Super Jr. Tag League. Definitely worth seeking out.

Need To Watch Rating: (9.0)

FIFTH MATCH: Super Jr. Tag League Match: ACH & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Soberano Jr. & Volador Jr.

ACH & Taguchi are a perfect foil for Soberano & Volador. Taguchi operates on another level when he’s in tournaments, and ACH is out to prove that he’s worth a longer stint. Soberano & Volador do not skimp on the lucha spots. This is a spectacle and a half.

Need To Watch Rating: (8.9)

SIXTH MATCH: Super Jr. Tag League Match: KUSHIDA & Chris Sabin vs. Suzuki-gun (El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)

KUSHIDA & Sabin are a delight together. Suzuki-gun fill this match with its usual shenanigans. Definitely the weakest of the tournament matches, but still a ripping good time.

Need To Watch Rating: (8.5)

MAIN EVENT: Super Jr. Tag League Match: Roppongi 3K (SHO & YOH) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI & Shingo Takagi)

Shingo Takagi officially debuted at King Of Pro Wrestling but this match is his chance to show what he can do. SHO & YOH debut a new, unified look and have never been more in sync. This is a thrilling, breathtaking war. Roppongi 3K desperate to prove that last year’s tournament win wasn’t a fluke, while BUSHI & Shingo work to prove that they are worthy of the LIJ banner. Definitely a match that will be talked about for a while. Shingo bringing the Dragon Gate style to NJPW’s Jr. Heavyweight tag division is going to lead to some pretty spectacular things, and this match is the beginning.

Need To Watch Rating: (10.0)
