Inside The Ropes conducted a conversation with AEW‘s Chris Jericho about his classic WrestleMania XIX match that he had with “Mr. WrestleMania” himself, Shawn Michaels. In this three-minute clip, Jericho breaks down how the match came to fruition and how the original plan was supposed to be him against Edge for that year. I was just kind of demeaning Shawn on the Highlight Reel, he super kicked me in the face, and that was supposed to be the end of it. Then we walked to the back and I remember Vince sitting there smiling. Then Shawn said “It’s money” and Vince said “You’re f***ing right it’s money”. That was where that whole angle started. It was supposed to be me and Edge that year, originally. But that happened in mid-December, and after that they said I think we’ve got something here with Jericho and Michaels for WrestleMania.
