Buff Bagwell Was In ‘No Holds Barred’ With Hulk Hogan And No One Noticed Until Now

Buff is the stuff movie magic is made of.

First spotted by Horror Movie BBQ, it appears Buff Bagwell was actually an extra in one of professional wrestling’s most memorable films, No Holds Barred.

The 1989 film starring Hulk Hogan, Tommy “Tiny” Lister and Kurt Fuller was filmed in Georgia, which is also where Bagwell is originally from. As seen in the screenshot below, someone bearing a striking resemblance to the 5-time WCW World Tag Team Champion was spotted standing behind Hogan’s character, Rip.

As it turns out, it’s actually Bagwell in the scene. WCW and IMPACT Wrestling ring announcer Dave Penzer reached out and said he confirmed it with Buff himself, and that he was in the crowd in the final film.

No other details were shared about how Buff got in the movie or why no one ever noticed before, but it’s certainly a fun find for wrestling fans.

No Holds Barred was actually produced by the World Wrestling Federation under the name “Shane Distribution Company” (after Shane McMahon) and it was designed as a vehicle to launch Hulk Hogan’s acting career. Vince McMahon pretty much broke even at the box office but the film led to “Zeus” actually entering the wrestling ring for an extended run against Hulk Hogan.

That feud resulted in No Holds Barred: The Match/The Movie on December 27, 1989, with “Zeus” and Randy Savage facing off with Brutus Beefcake and Hogan in a steel cage match.
