Karrion Kross spent weeks telling Keith Lee that his time was almost up, and during NXT TakeOver: XXX he proved it. Kross defeated Lee in an epic match to become the newest NXT Champion, ushering in a new period for the company while showing that he can hang with the biggest and baddest that NXT has to offer.
In a match that saw two of NXT’s best giving it their all, both Lee and Kross survived multiple near-falls, including Lee being able to get out of the Kross Jacket and Kross surviving a Spirit Bomb. Things ended for Lee when he climbed to the top rope for a moonsault and allowed Kross to get up with him. Too worn out to do much, Kross was able to land the Doomsday Saito off the top rope, ending things for good and allowing him to pin Lee for the win.

Kross hits the ropes and runs right into a lariat from Lee. Kross finally hits a Doomsday Saito. Lee kicks out. Kross puts Lee in the Kross Jacket. The referee checks on Lee. Lee manages to get to the ropes. Lee is barely moving. The referee asks Lee if he is able to continue. Lee gets to his feet. Lee hits the Spirit Bomb. Kross kicks out. Lee drags Kross to the corner. Lee goes up top for a moonsault. Kross cuts Lee off. Kross hits the Doomsday Saito off the top rope for the win!
