The Miz Says He Never Talked To Asuka Before Mixed Match Challenge

It seems like forever ago when WWE ran the Mixed Match Challenge tournament, a show that featured exclusively mixed match tag team matches. One of the most odd pairings on the show was when The Miz teamed up with Asuka. In fact, they actually won the first edition of the tournament and made it to the semi-finals in the second edition.

The Miz was recently a guest on New Day: Feel The Power podcast, and spoke about the pairing he had with Asuka, admitting that he never spoke to her before it was revealed they would be teaming together.

Miz said, “It was a random pairing, I don’t think I even talked to Asuka before we started working together on Mixed Match Challenge and all of a sudden they were like, ‘You’re with Asuka.’ We start talking and she didn’t understand what I was saying. I didn’t understand what she was saying, but somehow, someway, we just clicked. Speaking wrestling is a completely different language than English and Japanese. When we came together, we would speak wrestling and understand each other. She is so good at going off of something, she can feel an emotion and be able to relay that. I had a blast working with Asuka.”

While other teams have had brief interactions together on TV since the tournament (Bliss & Strowman, R-Truth & Carmella), The Miz and Asuka have not ran into each other at all since the Mixed Match Challenge. The series has not been seen since late 2018 and there is no news on if we will see the MMC return again.
