AEW Trademark On Stadium Stampede In Jeopardy

It seems that AEW may have more trouble establishing names for its events throughout the year.

As first reported by Heel By Nature, All Elite Wrestling’s trademark on “Stadium Stampede” has been suspended due to WWE’s registration of WCW PPV “Spring Stampede,” as well as some legal wording that needs to be sorted out.

In layman’s terms, AEW’s latest filing for the trademark failed to argue why the company should be granted a wrestling-related mark for the word “Stampede,” as it’s close to WWE’s filing on the WCW PPV. As of December 7th, the filing has been suspended pending further action.

On WWE’s side of things, the Spring Stampede mark was requested all the way back in January of 2019 but has not been approved as of yet due to an “identification of services” issue. WWE has until March of 2021 to refile or it will be abandoned.

The Stadium Stampede was a match presented at this year’s Double or Nothing PPV, pitting The Elite against The Inner Circle. At the time, Tony Khan stated that he hoped the contest could become a “signature” of the growing promotion.
