WWE 205 Live Will Now ‘Occasionally’ Feature Wrestlers That Exceed The Weight Limit

WWE 205 Live is going to play fast and loose with the weight limit stated in the title of the show.

According to a new preview for this week’s episode of 205 Live, WWE states the purple brand will “occasionally” feature talent that is over the 205-pound weight limit of the show.

Per WWE:

A must-see edition of 205 Live is set to feature Joe Gacy tangling with Josh Briggs, as well as a highly anticipated rematch between Ikemen Jiro and Grayson Waller.

The purple brand will now occasionally play host to matches where one or multiple Superstars eclipse the 205-pound weight limit, setting the stage for a colossal main event between Gacy and Briggs!

Both hard-nosed competitors were eliminated in the first round of the ongoing NXT Breakout Tournament, and it stands to reason that each will be in a foul mood and looking to take out their frustrations on the other.

Gacy and Briggs will both be making their second appearance on 205 Live, having each already picked up a win on the purple brand prior to competing in the NXT Breakout Tournament, but what will happen when these two bulls cross paths?

205 Live was originally started as a Cruiserweight-only series, but it’s clear that they’re moving on to include other new talent on the show. 205 Live has featured heavyweight competitors in recent weeks, including the 405-pound Odyssey Jones and Josh Briggs in their own respective NXT Breakout Tournament matches on July 9.

While those matches were strictly meant as a preview for the Breakout Tournament, WWE’s announcement makes it clear that fans can expect to see larger talent on Friday nights moving forward.
