Report: Ken Doane (aka Kenny Dykstra) Hired As WWE Performance Center Coach

The WWE Performance Center has reportedly gained some spirit, as Ken Doane, formerly known as Kenny Dykstra of the Spirit Squad, has been hired as a coach.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE brought Doane in at some point recently, and the report confirms that he has been working at the facility for at least several weeks.

Dykstra and the rest of the Spirit Squad arrived in WWE on January 23, 2006; the group feuded with Shawn Michaels and Triple H, and the stable collectively won the WWE World Tag Team Championship when Kenny and Mikey defeated Big Show and Kane. The Spirit Squad was memorably written off TV when D-Generation X literally sent them packing, trapped in a crate with “OVW” written on it, on November 27, 2006. Dykstra had a brief singles run and feuded with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair prior to his eventual release in 2008.

Doane then worked on the independent circuit for several years, aside from a brief WWE return in 2016. He competed for various promotions, including Major League Wrestling and Ring of Honor, during this stretch.

This past April, Doane announced that he considered himself retired, as his in-ring days are over.
