STRONG Openweight Title Bout, Jay White And More Set For NJPW STRONG: Detonation On 11/15

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced the card for its next set of NJPW STRONG tapings, which will be held under the “Detonation” billing, on November 15. The taping will be at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium two days after NJPW Battle in the Valley.

Among several exciting bouts, Tom Lawlor will defend the STRONG Openweight Championship against Fred Rosser; the two stars have been feuding in recent weeks, and this rivalry is set to come to a head at Detonation. Plus, in anothr star-studded bout, NEVER Openweight Champion Jay White and Hikuleo will take on Chris Dickinson and Alex Zayne.

Elsewhere on the show, Brody King will clash with Tomohiro Ishii in a battle of two powerhouses. United Empire (Will Ospreay, Jeff Cobb, and TJP) will also be in action in a six-man bout against Karl Fredericks, Clark Connors and Ren Narita. Additionally, Alex Coughlin will take on Josh Barnett, the architect of Bloodsport.

After months of campaigning to get his hands on the Team Filthy leader, Fred Rosser finally gets his long awaited rematch with Tom Lawlor, this time for the STRONG Openweight Championship. Lawlor has proven unbeatable on STRONG for well over a year, but can Mr. No Days Off do the impossible and become the second STRONG Openweight Champion?

Tomohiro Ishii will go one on one with Brody King. Big Bad Brody is undoubtedly one of STRONG’s hardest hitters, while Ishii is one of the world’s toughest warriors. Immediately after his war with Jay White in San Jose, Ishii could be the new NEVER Openweight Champion, or he could be denied his chance to ever challenge for the title again, and be looking to act out his frustrations.

Alex Coughlin’s Challenge Series sees his biggest match yet against Josh Barnett. Barnett competes in a New Japan ring for the first time in 17 years, as Coughlin’s efforts on Bloodsport have been recognised by the Warmaster.

Lio Rush is back in action, teaming with Adrian Quest to take on the Stray Dog Army team of Misterioso and Bateman. After Mitserioso and Bateman take on Violence Unlimited at Battle in the Valley, how will they react on STRONG?

Jay White and Hikuleo will meet Chris Dickinson and Alex Zayne. During Autumn Attack in Texas, Dickinson teamed with Robbie Eagles against BULLET CLUB, and now seeks more competition along with Zayne, against the group’s leader and its Young Gun.

In an emotional return, Gabriel Kidd hit STRONG tapings in Philadelphia to formally announce his comeback to NJPW competition this October. He also called out one of the world’s premier technical wrestlers, and dared the Octopus Jonathan Gresham to try his hand against one of Britain’s best.

Will Ospreay, TJP and Jeff Cobb will all represent the United Empire in trios action as they face the LA Dojo en masse. Fallout from San Jose will definitely be in the air when they take on the LA Dojo’s Ren Narita, Clark Connors and Karl Fredericks after Battle in the Valley’s big matches.

Plus, Kevin Knight and the DKC will be taking on Jordan Clearwater and Brogan Finlay. Four young stars with limitless potential collide in Riverside!

The card is as follows:

  • STRONG Openweight Championship Match: Tom Lawlor (c) vs. Fred Rosser
  • Jay White & Hikuleo vs. Chris Dickinson & Alex Zayne
  • Brody King vs. Tomohiro Ishii
  • Alex Coughlin vs. Josh Barnett
