Report: NXT 2.0 TakeOver Event Planned For December

Is NXT 2.0 is ready to TakeOver once again?

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, a new ‘NXT TakeOver’ level event is set to take place on December 5. It was noted that multiple sources said this was the tentative date for the special event, which might not actually be called “TakeOver.” In addition to revealing the planned event date, Thurston said that he’d asked about what the event would be called, but did not receive confirmation that NXT 2.0 would continue to use the TakeOver brand name for the event itself.

The original incarnation of the NXT TakeOver events began in 2014, starting with “NXT TakeOver” on May 29, 2014 at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. That first special saw a main event of Adrian Neville vs. Tyson Kidd for the NXT Championship. The final event (to this point) was NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22, 2021, where Samoa Joe defeated Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship. Soon after this show, NXT rebranded to “NXT 2.0” and started a new era for the brand.

It’s worth noting that PWInsider.com reported on October 21 that there weren’t any TakeOver events listed on the internal WWE calendar for November or December, so it’s possible that it was a late addition.
