NJPW Best of Super Juniors 28: Night 7 Results (11/29)

New Japan Pro Wrestling continued the 28th Best of Super Juniors on Monday. The show saw IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion EL Desperado surpass last year’s winner Hiromu Takahashi in the standings with a win over his own tag partner, Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Much like the other intra-team matches in this year’s tournament, Desperado & Kanemaru pulled no punches with each other, with Desperado nearly knocking Kanemaru out with Pinche Loco.

Hiromu was not so lucky on Monday. Takahashi fell to a loaded boot from Bullet Club’s El Phantasmo. Phantasmo is breaking out of a losing streak, and ended the show telling people to pay attention to Bullet Club’s “real future.”

The current block leader, SHO broke even further ahead of the race, getting a stoppage win over a fiery and motivated Master Wato. SHO’s former-tag partner YOH continues to climb back from a bad start to the tournament, he got a win over perennial spoiler Taiji Ishimori.

Plus Ryuske Taguchi bested DOUKI in a fun match, and Robbie Eagles brought the fight to BUSHI. As always, a 10-minute exhibition from the Young Lions opened the show.
