New Japan Pro-Wrestling had to cancel a recent event in Korakuen Hall and replace it with a talk show.
The opening night of the 2025 New Japan Cup saw an unexpected cancelation due to a broken ring post.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling issued the following statement regarding the cancelation of the event:
“Due to a broken ring post tonight’s event in Korakuen Hall has been forced to be canceled. A talk show will take place in place of matches, with tickets to be refunded. NJPW deeply apologizes for the abrupt cancelation of tonight’s event and the disappointment and inconvenience caused,” NJPW said in an official statement.
These are the matches that were scheduled to take place at this show:
- Katsuya Murashima, Toru Yano, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Hirooki Goto vs. Tiger Mask, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima, and Yuji Nagata
- Jado, El Desperado, and El Phantasmo vs. Jeff Cobb, Fancesco Akira, and Great-O-Khan
- Hartley Jackson and Ryohei Oiwa vs. Gedo and Chase Owens
- Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito vs. Jakob Austin Young and Callum Newman
- Drilla Moloney and Gabe Kidd vs. Yujiro Takahashi and Ren Narita
- 2025 New Japan Cup 1st Round: Yuya Uemura vs. SANADA
- 2025 New Japan Cup 1st Round: Yota Tsuji vs. King of Darkness EVIL
New Japan has another event scheduled for Korakuen Hall on March 8. Hopefully, the ring post situation will be fixed in time for that show.
