CM Punk is often called “The Best in the World”, and he recently got the stamp of approval from a fellow icon when Sting publicly praised him.

“The Stinger” teamed up with Punk and Darby Allin on the special “Holiday Bash” edition of AEW Dynamite, and the trio defeated MJF and FTR. Before the former WCW star and “The Second City Saint” officially shared the ring, Sting sang Punk’s praises.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the WWE Hall of Famer commended Punk’s ability to generate a passionate response from the fans. He compared the cheers Punk gets to the classic “Road Warrior Pop.”

“CM Punk, he’s truly amazing to me,” said Sting. “Hearing the crowd respond to him, it’s made me turn back the clock and think of all the different memorable reactions over the years to different wrestlers. I’ve especially been thinking about The Road Warriors. Animal was really big on that. He would say, ‘This guy got a huge pop, but it wasn’t a Road Warrior pop.’ That’s what Punk gets.”

To elaborate, “The Stinger” praised Punk as a “remarkable” performer and discussed the special quality about the popular star’s appearances on AEW programming.

“I had an idea of CM Punk’s greatness, but now I have experienced it,” said Sting. “His appearances are so electrifying. He is remarkable, and I am grateful to have this opportunity to be in the ring with him and Darby as their tag team partner.”

Indeed, Sting got to witness Punk’s skills more than ever before when they joined forces on Wednesday night, and many fans are excited to see what both superstars do next.
