GCW Most Notorious Results (1/14/21): Matt Cardona, Rich Swann, Alex Shelley And More Compete

On January 14, Game Changer Wrestling returns to Detroit for its “Most Notorious” show. With the sold-out “The WRLD on GCW” show just over a week away, the various members of the company’s star-studded roster will look to pick up more momentum as the road to the Hammerstein Ballroom continues.

Among other exciting bouts, Matt Cardona will face Rhino, and 2 Cold Scorpio and Ricky Morton will team up to face BUSSY (Allie Katch and Effy). Plus, legends Sabu and Kevin Nash are both advertised for the show.

The results are as follows:

  • Scramble Match: Jordan Oliver vs. Nate Webb vs. Dante Leon vs. Jimmy Lloyd vs. Ninja Mack vs. Gringo Loco

Zayne, Loco, Garrett and Leon taking turns onto their opponents at ringside right away. Mack and Loco showcase their impressive athleticism. Garrett gains the upper hand with a moonsault on Mack. Each competitor briefly steps up and gains momentum in a flurry of offense. Bodies are flying all over the place. Webb drops Lloyd with an innovative destroyer. The chaotic pace continues, and Webb kicks a chair into Garrett’s face. Lloyd plants Mack with a piledriver. Loco gets the win with the Gringo Cutter on Leon.

Winner: Gringo Loco

Leon Ruff vs. Jordan Oliver

Ruff and Oliver feel each other out. The Detroit native gains the upper hand and grounds his opponent. Oliver mounts a comeback and takes control. He suplexes Ruff twice, but the fan-favorite fires back with one of his own. Oliver catches Ruff with a kick, but the former NXT North American Champion sends Oliver crashing to the outside. Ruff dives onto Oliver outside the ring and gets a two count with a springboard cutter. The two competitors trade kicks to the face, and Oliver gets a two count with a standing Spanish Fly.

Oliver gets the win with the Orange Crush, and the Detroit crowd isn’t happy to see their hometown hero walk away with a loss.

Winner: Jordan Oliver

In-ring segment: Kevin Nash

Detroit native Kevin Nash comes out to a big pop. The fans chant, “Welcome home.” He gets a cheap pop by referencing a local casino and talks about Detroit. He jokes that the high-flyers are stealing his “s—” and calls it plagiarism. Nash says “a very good friend” asked him to come to the show, and he points out that he’s been following GCW. He circles back to his time at the casino by saying, “I could very easily be stoned right now.”

Nash says it’s “nice” to be home and brings out his co-star of Paparazzi Productions, Alex Shelley, who he calls one of the most talented people he’s ever been in the ring with. Shelley and Nash crake some jokes and get some more love from the crowd by talking about Detroit. He says he used to think “Big Daddy Cool” was the coolest wrestler on the planet when he was a kid and calls him a great mentor. Shelley names some of GCW’s best and brightest. He looks back at his career and says, “GCW f—— rules.” He askes Nash if he’s “too sweet”, and indeed he is, as they do a remixed version of the nWo taunt. Nash thanks the fans and tells them to watch “Picasso” paint in the ring through Shelley’s performance.

Alex Shelley vs. Jimmy Jacobs

Shelley and Jacobs exchange technical holds in the opening minutes. Jacobs takes control with a rope-assisted neckbreaker. He continues to control the match, but Shelley floors Jacobs with a desperate clothesline. Shelley briefly gains the upper hand, but Jacobs does his best Rhino impression with a Gore for a two count. Turning back time, Shelley hits his vintage facebuster into the corner and locks in the Border City Stretch. Jacobs escapes and locks in a guillotine, but Shelley gets out of it.

Shelley rocks Jacobs with a superkick and locks in the Border City Stretch again for the victory.

Winner: Alex Shelley

Matt Cardona (with Chelsea Green) vs. Rhino

As always, the GCW Universe lets Cardona hear it with a chorus of harsh boos while he walks to the ring. He takes a fan’s sign that reads “Detroit vs. Cardona” and rips it up. Green grabs a microphone, and speaking over very loud boos, says they’d love nothing more than to invite everyone to the Hammerstein Ballroom to celebrate the life of Joey Janela. She insults his foul breath, his greasy hair, and his nasty odor, which leaves the scent of alcohol in the air. Green says Janela will leave behind the legacy of being a loser after she and Cardona end him next Sunday, when they’ll punch his ticket to hell. She says neither one of them is afraid of Rhino, either.

Cardona reminds fans that the last time he was in this “F” town, he got screwed again, but that won’t happen again. “The only screwjob going on tonight is going on in my hotel room with my hot new wife,” Cardona says. He accuses Janela of being a “cheap f—” like Brett Lauderdale. He then states that while Janela has been opening AEW Dark, he’s been putting GCW on the map. Cardona claims that GCW is running on “Cardona Power”, and he vows to end Janela next Sunday. But for now, he’s focused on Rhino. He says he and Rhino are ECW Originals, but he reminds everyone that Ezekiel Jackson is the last-ever ECW World Champion. He demands respect for Jackson, but he says he’ll become the new ECW Television Champion when he beats Rhino.

The ECW legend comes to the ring and threatens to rip Green in half. He then makes it clear that he’ll beat Cardona up, Detroit-style. Rhino overpowers Cardona off the bat and sees right through his trickery when he goes for a handshake. The brawl spills out into the crowd, and at this point, it’s more of a mugging, as Rhino uses a chair on “The Deathmatch King.” The fight travels over to the venue’s disco floor, and Rhino hits Cardona with a trash can.

Green distracts Rhino, and Cardona capitalizes by using the ropes to kick Rhino below the belt. He chokes the legend with his shirt, and Green gets a cheap shot in on him, too.

Both men are down after a double clothesline. Rhino takes control again. Cardona hits the Rough Ryder, but Rhino kicks out. He brings out a sack and reveals that it contains the ECW Television Championship. Rhino ducks a belt shot, and Cardona accidentally hits the referee. With the official down, Rhino drops Cardona with a Gore for the unofficial three count. Rhino gets a door and puts it in the corner. Cardona dodges Rhino, so the Manbeast Gores Green through the door. Cardona hits Rhino below the belt and hits him with the ECW Television Championship for the three count.

Winner and new ECW Television Champion: Matt Cardona
