Shane McMahon‘s “Here Comes The Money” is one of WWE’s most memorable entrance themes and one of the men who wrote it says it was a great highlight in his career too.
Vinnie Brown of Naughty By Nature recently spoke with Bally Sports Network’s Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on his weekly sports betting segment for Bovada on Instagram Live and talked about how WWE got Naughty By Nature to record “Here Comes The Money” for Shane McMahon.
“Wow — that was crazy, man. They were big fans of Naughty By Nature and again, we were in the early days when music, in particular hip-hop, and the WWE, WWF back then, were collaborating. So when they reached out to us and [said], ‘Shane McMahon needs a theme song, ‘Here Comes The Money.’’ We were [into it] because even back then, we had done the theme to Soul Train, so that was crazy. So to do this with the WWE/WWF, it was amazing. So we were down, we chef’d up this song and it was one of our classic moments, one of our milestones in our careers.”
Asked if he knew what Shane’s reaction was, Brown said the group didn’t meet Shane but hopes they could get together to discuss the theme’s success one day.
“No, we really haven’t,” Brown said. “We haven’t spoken to him. Obviously, the song made a lot of noise, but again, we’ve got to catch up to him and really reminisce about that.”
Vinnie also said that he used to go to events at Madison Square Garden and watched Bob Backlund, Bruno Sammartino, Andre The Giant and Iron Sheik, among others.
