Nick Khan Touts Rise In Viewership Of WWE’s Premium Live Events Since Move To Peacock

WWE‘s move to Peacock continues to pay off.

On February 3, before the quarterly earnings call, WWE announced that in 2021, the company generated a record $1.095 billion in revenue. During the call, WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan discussed the success of the streaming partnership with Peacock. He stated that viewership for the company’s premium live events continues to display marked improvement compared to the pre-pandemic shows that aired on WWE Network in 2019.

Specifically, Khan noted that WWE SummerSlam was up “over 30%”, Money in the Bank was up 25%, and Survivor Series was up almost 25%. He also stated that the company’s “international event” in Saudi Arabia was up 75%. With this clear increase, Khan touted that more viewers are watching WWE’s events than ever.

Previously, on the earnings call after the company reported its second-quarter financial results on July 29, Khan discussed the benefits of the shift to Peacock, and he used a similar method of comparison to do so:

“Four months into the Peacock partnership, we’re seeing the benefits of a streaming partnership with a platform that has broad distribution and continues to grow,” said Khan. “Since moving to Peacock, viewership of our pay-per-view events has increased with Backlash up 26%, Hell in a Cell up 25% and Money in the Bank up 46% from their prior-year performance on what was the standalone WWE Network.”
