Report: Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract Extended Through 2023

Chris Jericho isn’t departing All Elite Wrestling anytime soon.

With the surprising AEW departure of Brandi and Cody Rhodes this week, a magnifying glass has been placed upon the entire roster as to when their current deals are expiring to see who might be leaving next, but former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho won’t be one of them.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony Khan has picked up the two-year option on Chris Jericho’s contract at the beginning of the year, which extends him with All Elite Wrestling through 2023. This report has also been confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, who was told that Jericho has “roughly two years remaining” on his current All Elite Wrestling contract.

While the free-agent market continues to be a hot topic in professional wrestling this year, you can take Jericho’s name off the board as a big potential free agent in 2022.

WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page recently praised Jericho for being able to get himself over and reinvent himself in the wrestling business, calling him a “modern-day Ric Flair.”

“I gotta give AEW the 60/40 (percent) thing right now. They are the cool thing on top. The biggest thing that I love about AEW is the fans (and) how the fans react. I wrestled there two years ago this January. I would never have done it if there were no fans. Cody’s (Rhodes, Dusty’s son) like my nephew, and I helped him a lot in the beginning, just with the production side. Nathan Lowry, who was one of the guys who works for me and the guy who was the director of Jericho’s (song) ‘Judas.’ They filmed Judas in my DDP Yoga Performance Center.”
