Luke Hawx To Play A Young Steve Austin On New Episode Of ‘Young Rock’

Luke Hawx of the National Wrestling Alliance has landed the role of a lifetime as Stone Cold Steve Austin this week on NBC’s Young Rock.

Fans of Young Rock are aware that the show bounces around to different points in the life of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This Tuesday, we get another WWE-centric episode of when The Rock first got hired by the company back in 1996.

The Rock took to social media this weekend to set the stage for Tuesday’s episode and hyped it up like only The Great One can:

“PRO WRESTLING aficionados get ready a very special episode of @NBC’s YOUNG ROCK airs THIS TUESDAY!

1996: Backstage.

@WWE locker room.

Rocky Maivia meets The Ringmaster for the first time.

I had never wrestled an actual real match in my life, so on this night in front of 15,000 rabid and wild pro wrestling fans – I was thrown headfirst into the fire to see if I could take the heat and survive.

This night changed my life forever.

Of course, I would eventually drop the name “Rocky Maivia” (which I hated) and become known only as THE ROCK.

And “The Ringmaster” would eventually drop his name (which he hated) and become known as the one and only, STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN

Scroll left to see if you recognize all the other FUTURE WWE LEGENDS & HALL OF FAMERS I shook hands with on the night of my first ever match.

Enjoy the episode this Tuesday!

It’s where it all began for me

YOUNG ROCK

On NBC!

#sevenbucksproductions

#fiercebabyproductions,” The Rock posted on Instagram.

Following The Rock’s reveal, Luke Hawx took to social media to speak on this once and a lifetime opportunity to play a WWE Hall of Famer on national television:

“The correct words for this is HELL YEAH! I’ve kept this secret for a good while now but I’m so happy to announce that I have joined the cast of NBC’s Young Rock as the greatest wrestling superstar of all-time Steve Austin! My debut episode comes out this Tuesday night and I am thrilled to be a part of NBC’s #1 Comedy,” Luke Hawx posted on Facebook.

Other new WWE Superstars that will appear for the first time this Tuesday are The Undertaker, Triple H, and Mankind (Mick Foley). At this time, it’s unknown who played these iconic characters.

Hawx spoke with WrestleZone to promote season one of the STARZ series Heels, where he works as a stunt coordinator and actor. Hawx spoke about sharing the screen with The Rock in Fate of the Furious, and also took some time to praise him for his work ethic and everything he does in his career.

“Look at The Rock, I’m nowhere near his level but could you imagine how much he goes through? He had zero life [on set] and I’ve worked with him, I’ve been around everybody… I mean everybody. [Sylvester] Stallone, [Arnold] Schwarzenegger, I mean you name an actor and I’ve been around or worked with them directly. When I worked with The Rock — and I’ve known him for years, we’re not great friends, but we know each other and he’s cool and he’s always been great to me — when I worked with him on ‘Fast And Furious 8’ I’ve never seen somebody so damn busy,” Hawx stated.

“He didn’t have time to breathe, every time he stopped a scene, he had ten people in his face, ‘sign this, we need you to do this, we need you to do that,’ it was nonstop everything, every day and he’s just doing it with a smile on his face and keeps rolling on. Jesus Christ, how does this guy just roll? Like, you have to be a special, special man because he would never let something get on his nerves, even when times were tough, he’d just smile and keep working and I’d be like ‘goddamn,’ that’s something, so my hats off to The Rock.”

Check out our full interview at this link, where Hawx also talks about hopes for a second season of Heels, how the show hit a home run with various castings and more.
